🗞 News
ChatGPT now enables direct purchases through Instant Checkout, allowing U.S. users to buy products from Etsy sellers and soon Shopify merchants directly within conversations by completing transactions in just a few taps. OpenAI co-developed and is open-sourcing the Agentic Commerce Protocol with Stripe, creating an open standard that allows AI agents, users, and businesses to complete purchases together and enabling other merchants and developers to build integrations. The system prioritizes user control by requiring explicit confirmation at each step and maintains merchant autonomy over payments and customer relationships, while keeping product results organic and unsponsored with security ensured through encrypted payment tokens.
Google Is Still 210x Bigger Than ChatGPT In Search [2 min read]
Google processes approximately 14 billion searches daily compared to ChatGPT's 66 million search-like prompts per day, making Google about 210 times larger in search volume. Despite growth in AI tools, AI search drives less than 1% of website referrals according to BrightEdge data, and people who adopt AI tools actually increase their Google searches rather than replacing them. Marketers should focus on actual audience behavior rather than AI search hype, as Google still dominates discovery and traffic even though ChatGPT may be influential in certain niches.
Sora 2 Is Here, And It’s Social [8 min read]
Sora 2 represents a major leap in video generation with significantly improved physics accuracy and world simulation capabilities, respecting physical laws to model realistic failures, complex movements like Olympic gymnastics, and sophisticated audio including dialogue and sound effects, unlike previous models that would "cheat" physics. OpenAI is also launching a social iOS app called "Sora" that allows users to upload themselves and be inserted into any generated video with accurate appearance and voice, designed around creation and remixing content with friends while focusing on community connection rather than passive consumption. OpenAI is implementing multiple safety measures including user-controllable feeds with natural language instructions, protections against doomscrolling and addiction, special safeguards for teens, cameo consent controls, and a monetization model that prioritizes user wellbeing over engagement metrics, with the app launching invite-based to ensure people join with their friends.

Introducing YouTube Labs [1 min read]
YouTube Labs is a new program inviting US users to test experimental AI features, starting with AI hosts in YouTube Music that share stories and insights while you listen. These features are experimental and may be disabled without notice, with varying quality, and user feedback will help improve Google's products. Also, users can sign up for paid research studies to provide feedback on YouTube and other Google products in exchange for gift cards.
Conversation design is about planning interaction structure through principles like turn-taking, error recovery, and the Intent → Emotion → Action framework to ensure digital systems communicate naturally rather than robotically across all touchpoints. Teams often fail by prioritizing AI features over actual user needs, treating errors as dead-ends rather than dialogue opportunities, and designing isolated channels instead of creating one continuous, consistent relationship that spans platforms. As conversational AI becomes more emotionally responsive, businesses must prioritize transparency about bot interactions, respect data privacy, balance automation with human touch, and break down organizational silos to create trustworthy experiences that genuinely make people feel seen and respected.
🧠 Hacks & Tactics
A target audience is the specific group of people most likely to buy your product, including both decision-makers and their influencers, and differs from the broader "target market" by focusing on actual individuals with defined roles, challenges, and behaviors rather than just industries or company types. The RACSVR framework (Research, Analyze, Create, Segment, Validate, Repeat) provides a systematic approach that combines multiple data sources—market research, competitor analysis, CRM data, and direct feedback—to identify patterns, create detailed audience personas, and test assumptions through small campaigns. Audience research must be treated as an ongoing strategic asset requiring regular updates (quarterly performance reviews, bi-annual customer interviews, and annual comprehensive persona reviews) because markets evolve constantly, and outdated personas can mislead strategy worse than having no personas at all, making continuous audience intelligence a competitive advantage across all business functions.
14 Questions To Audit Your Homepage Messaging [4 min read]
Effective homepage messaging requires answering essential questions that articulate the customer problem, demonstrate differentiated value, target the right audience, explain your market category, maintain simplicity, convey brand ideology and distinctiveness, present offers within a narrative structure, provide clear calls-to-action, offer valuable ways to stay connected, and handle common objections. Poor homepage messaging isn't primarily a copywriting problem but rather reflects a lack of clarity about brand positioning and messaging at the executive level, which is why strategy and positioning clarity must be established first before homepage tactics can be meaningful.

What Kills Motivation? [3 min read]
Lack of hope, not hard work itself, causes burnout and kills motivation—working hard becomes energizing when you believe in a meaningful payoff, but continuing when you no longer believe the reward justifies the effort leads to numbness and lost productivity. Distinguishing between "Dips" (difficult phases where meaningful breakthroughs await) and "Cul-de-sacs" (dead-ends where no effort will lead to progress) requires honest assessment of whether your original vision still excites you and whether there's a realistic path forward. Low motivation signals the need for introspection about whether your work is truly making progress, and listening to that signal before complete burnout can help you redirect energy rather than spinning your wheels in comfortable mediocrity.
🔮 The Future
Is Relationship Marketing The New Moat? [4 min read]
As AI and automation become ubiquitous in marketing, genuine human relationship-building has emerged as a key competitive differentiator since every marketer now has access to similar AI tools, making authentic human connections the new "x-factor" for standing out in a crowded marketplace. Relationship marketing drives business value through customer retention and referrals, which is increasingly important as customer acquisition costs rise and new customer acquisition becomes more difficult, while strong relationships generate loyalty and positive reviews that improve AI searchability. Marketers should use AI to free up time for human interactions rather than replace them, reconfiguring their technology stacks to support relationship-building through personalized follow-ups, live engagement, and meaningful touchpoints while focusing on KPIs that measure relationship health rather than just transaction metrics.
Why CMOs Should Rethink ROAS As A North Star Metric [14 min read]
ROAS misleads as a sole metric because it favors existing customers and short-term wins while ignoring profit margins, limiting growth investments, and only showing snapshots instead of long-term value. Better alternatives like CLV:CAC ratio, payback period, and new customer growth reveal whether you're building a sustainable business that expands market share rather than just recapturing the same audience. CMOs need layered frameworks that separate short-term efficiency metrics from long-term strategic health measures, then align finance teams, execution teams, and agencies around these priorities to focus on actual business growth.
👩🏫 Vocab
Digital Asset Management: A system for storing, organizing, and distributing digital marketing content like images, videos, and brand materials. It ensures everyone has access to the right files and approved content. Digital asset management helps maintain brand consistency across channels.
Example: A global brand uses a central platform where teams can access approved logos, photos, and marketing materials, ensuring consistent branding across different countries.
User-Generated Content: Content created by customers or fans of a brand rather than the brand itself. It includes reviews, social media posts, photos, and videos featuring your products. User-generated content provides authentic social proof and builds community engagement.
Example: A hotel encourages guests to share vacation photos with a branded hashtag, then features the best shots on their Instagram account.
